Painting eggs is a popular art form and religious craft in Ukraine and Bulgaria. Students can do this using the examples below or other computer pictures doing a search for pysanky. They could also create their own egg design. Using cardboard or other craft material in the shape of an egg, they might want to first draw their design on the egg in pencil, then paint it.
Another activity: Ask each student to write their first name, then write a few lines describing their family, any pets they or their family members own, their interests and hobbies. These can all be compiled on a list and emailed to the address to be provided.
If some students enjoy writing, they could write a story about their pet, or one about an animal a friend or family member has/had.
An animal, Max the guinea pig, has an important part in Darya’s story. Animals are also an important part of the story of creation. Sometimes they are part of an analogy, or illustration in a Bible story. Look up the following Bible verses that pertain to animals, then write the verses on pieces of paper. Draw or find pictures of the animals noted in the verses. Students could also add pictures of their pets. Match the Bible verses to the pictures and attach them to the bulletin board. Some verses apply to animals in general so these can go at the top, center, or wherever you like.
